The reason I now do what I do…

 

It all started with my redundancy in 2017 from a HR role I absolutely loved and was very much devoted to. Other factors in life at the same time made me less precious about believing in certainties.

Sometimes that unexpected turn in life can lead us to follow a path that we would never have imagined and maybe push us out of our comfort zone. We are sometimes faced with that sliding door moment decision and the ‘as one door closes another door opens’ opportunity.

​

After my redundancy I took on various roles in temporary/contract HR, admin and reception work. February 2019 I was approached by a dear friend to join her business in the world of lettings & property management and I accepted. I needed to know if it was for me, so I continued to work in my part-time contract role in HR until I was completely ready to switch roles and go self-employed. I absolutely loved it, so I gave up my HR role in August 2019 to pursue being self-employed in Property Management & Business Support, taking on something completely different.

At the same time, in August 2020, I continued with my HR work as a Virtual Assistant with an Agency and took on a client in the Investment Industry for employees based in Zambia, working self-employed under my own business as Admin & Business Support.

​

Since 2005 payroll collation has always part of my HR roles, but I wanted to learn more. So, in 2024 I gained my SAGE Certificate of Competency for Sage Business Cloud Payroll Software, Level 2.

​

What’s next? Well, I’ll continue to build my website and learn more about AI, then I'm hoping to look at options to refresh my payroll certification. I have amazing business support and tools to refresh my knowledge on HR legislation updates and I'll continue to update my knowledge for Property Management. I’m also looking into an ARLA Propertymark accreditation.

​

So, because of my continued interest in each aspect of what I have gained experience in over the years, I can’t just choose one. My HR Career started in 1998, previous reception and admin roles, then lettings & property management.
